First cashless stadium in Eastern Europe
With the Donbass Arena in Donetsk/Ukraine, venue of the UEFA EM 2012 and future home of UEFA CUP semifinalist FC Shaktar, payment solution corp. continues its international marketing expansion of cashless payment systems based on a multi-functional RFID chip card.
Munich / Donetsk, 28 April 2009 – The Donbass Arena in Donetsk, Ukraine which is under construction relies from the start on cashless transactions based on a multi-functional debit card. This makes the home of FC Shaktar Donetsk the first football stadium in Eastern Europe with ePayment system. Technology and know-how were bought from payment solution in Munich, Germany.
With the introduction of a multi-functional debit card system the USD400 million expensive Donbass Arena emphasizes its status in the UEFA 5-star category. “We decided to rely on a future-oriented system right from the start. As with the overall project we are leading the way for Eastern Europe. We believe to increase the service for the FC Shaktar fans as well as to deliver more comfort for concert and show visitors with this decision”, said Alexander Atamanenko, Operations Director, Donbass Arena.
Besides the payment function the overall system in the 50,000-spectator arena offers further functionalities, such as the integration of season tickets. “Surely other Eastern European stadiums will follow sooner or later, and we are proud to be the first ones with Donbass Arena to lead this future-oriented way.
