FC Augsburg’s new currency is called KAROpay

Augsburg / Munich, September 2009 - FC Augsburg kicked off the season in style at their brand new impuls arena.

The Bundesliga 2 side launched the innovative KAROpay system that provides fans and visitors with a quick and easy solution when purchasing food and beverages in the stadium.

KAROpay was installed and is operated by Munich Company, payment solution AG, who have recently introduced electronic payment at Shakhtar Donetsk’s Donbass Arena and enabled the first cashless Formula 1 Grand Prix at Nürburgring.

The custom-made payment system KAROpay, which was developed especially for the region of Augsburg and the new impuls arena, offers a variety of advantages to the visitors and is much more than an electronic payment system.

The use of the Legic-chip, the first of its kind, has positioned payment solution AG as one of the leading providers of multi-functional payment systems on every chip-based level.

 

 

Unlike any other payment system the stadia payment card (FCA CARD) can be used in conjunction with the already established multi-functional customer cards of the region’s energy supplier, Stadtwerke and Lechwerke, to buy food and drinks.

“Many of the FC Augsburg fans and visitors to the impuls arena already have the KAROCARD of the Stadtwerke or Lechwerkes easy living card.

“The new payment system allows them to use the already existing card to pay within the impuls arena.

KAROCARD already has widespread use in the area as a subscription-card for the public transport system and offers various shopping benefits within the regional retail industry.
