Full Success for ring°card at Formula 1 Weekend

(Nürburg, July 2009) – For the first time in Formula 1 history a GP race was taking place on an entirely cashless operated race course. Since starting the  multifunctional ring°card at Nürburgring as official payment method this April, the cashless payment system of german based payment solution corp. now produced proof of its full potential at Santander Grand-Prix of Germany.

Not only Formula 1 fans enjoyed the fast services. Also the visitors of the discovery and restaurant area, which opened last Thursday were able to comfortably and fast pay cashless in the entire Eifel village “Green Hell”. “After successfully concluding the legendary Car-Friday at Easter and the 24-hour race, we were convinced of the success of the Formula 1 weekend and the opening of the Eifel village “Green Hell” right from the beginning”, said Thomas Baur, Managing Director of Cash Settlement and Ticketing GmbH, responsible for electronic payments at Nürburgring.

During the Formula 1 weekend visitors were able to pay at approximately 250 cash points on the grounds cashless. More than 160 employees were ready at prominent points and at catering booths to issue and charge the ring°card for Formula 1 visitors. This makes the Santander Grand-Prix of Germany the biggest ever concluded cashless event worldwide. Compared to last year the queues at the catering booths were considerably shorter and thus every visitor had the chance to buy some food and drinks between the races. The result is a 20% increase in turnover compared to the previous Formula 1 Grand-Prix at Nürburgring.

This success is a further milestone in german based payment solution corp.’s vision to deploy multifunctional card systems in the entire leisure sector: “We are proud to have proven the functionality, after the success of our system in football stadiums, in large and spacious recreational facilities such as Nürburgring,” says  Heinz-Peter Strömsdörfer, CSO and COO of german based payment solution corp.
Nürburgring already gears up for the next upcoming mega event. On the 24-26 July weekend the International Truck Grand-Prix goes down. Also here Cash Settlement and Ticketing GmbH awaits, thanks to the cashless payment system of german based payment solution corp., an increase in turnover.
